Quarterly Economic Survey

  

Stats imageThe Quarterly Economic Survey results for Quarter 3 2010 were released on October 12th. Thank you to those who completed it.

 

The results and a summary document will shortly be available to view on our website.

The survey is the largest business survey of its kind in the UK and the information you provide enables us to gauge local business confidence and serve you in the most productive way.

 

 

 

Improved investment fund for small businesses 

 

The Local Investment Fund, which is administered by local authorities in the North-west, South-west and the Valleys areas, will now be able to offer funding of up to £10,000 to meet up to 40% of the cost of capital investments such as buying new equipment or extending business premises. The previous limit on most funding applications was £5,000.

Comprehensive Spending Review 

 

The Government will publish the Comprehensive Spending Review on October 20th. We would welcome any feedback on the contents of the review and what you feel are the negative/positive aspects for South Wales.

 

Bank of England Agency for Wales August Inflation Report Briefings 

 

The Bank of England's Agency for Wales will be holding events in Swansea and Cardiff in November 2010 to provide an 'off the record' briefing to contacts on the Bank's latest Inflation Report.   

 

The Bank's Inflation Report (published 10th November) will set out the Bank's views on the economy and the prospects for inflation over the next two years.  

 

Details of the two events are below.  If you would like to attend please reply by email to wales@bankofengland.co.uk  indicating clearly which location you would prefer.

Olympic Procurement Event          

 

            London 2012

On 2nd November Business Minister, Mark Prisk, is hosting a summit with three of London 2012's leading sponsors and a representative from the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, where he will be talking about the procurement opportunities that are still available. Representatives from Lloyds TSB, Deloitte and BT will provide guidance on the challenges and opportunities the Games present to businesses in the UK.

The event is free and runs from 9am-1pm on 2nd November at the BIS Conference Centre, SW1 0ET. If you would like to register, please email your details (name/company/address/telephone number/dietary requirements) to olympics.project.team@bis.gsi.gov.uk.
