Junior Chamber to be Launched

Young Professionals Aged 18-35 To Benefit From Dedicated Services

The South Wales Chamber of Commerce has today announced that it is to launch a Junior Chamber of Commerce. The move has come as a result of feedback from existing and would-be Chamber members who were keen to have a dedicated support network to meet the needs of young professionals and entrepreneurs in South East Wales.

The South Wales Junior Chamber of Commerce will be directed by a committee of representatives from local businesses. Dave Webb of A2Z Computing, and a member of the Junior Chamber committee, said: “The objective of the South Wales Junior Chamber of Commerce is to provide networking opportunities and services to young, professional members of the business community. Through the Junior Chamber they will be able to meet likeminded people in an un-intimidating, supportive and informative environment."

The South Wales Junior Chamber of Commerce will be launched at The Chandlery restaurant in Newport on Thursday November 6. The inaugural networking event, also being held at The Chandlery, will take place on Wednesday November 19 and will include an interactive networking workshop to help delegates hone their networking skills. Anyone wishing to attend these events is advised to contact the South Wales Chamber of Commerceto register as spaces will be limited.

Patrick Long, head of Chamber, said: “We have always sought to cater for the needs of our members and the launch of the South Wales Junior Chamber of Commerce is a result of this commitment. Although our events are well attended by all ages we are sympathetic to the needs of our younger members and hope that the Junior Chamber will provide a valuable resource to young businesspeople.”

Dave Webb continues: “There is an abundance of young business talent in the South East Wales area, from professionals helping to shape the companies for which they work, to inspiring entrepreneurs whose success is critical to the future of the economy. By bringing these people together the Junior Chamber will provide a catalyst for meaningful business relationships to be formed, and a platform for common issues to be aired and resolved. The Junior Chamber will benefit from the experience and professionalism of its parent organisation [the South Wales Chamber of Commerce], ensuring that it follows a proven formula whilst enjoying the autonomy it needs to meet the requirements of its members.”
